Hand Planing

Finally! I made all that progress with the bench top planer and stalled out. I'm back in the shop now. Today is a bank holiday. Maybe I can knock out the blank for one of the rods today. This is actually my favorite part of the process. These pictures start with sharpening the plane blades (google "scary sharp" if you want to know more about that). Then setting the depth of the steel forms. Planning. And the tip of the first finished strip. I've only got 71 more strips to go on these 4 rods. So why am I doing 4 rods at a one time...don't have a clue.
